How to store fresh fish

  • The best storage temperature for fresh fish is -1 °C to + 1 °C.
  • Fresh fish must not be stored in a plastic bag, it is only meant for transport.
  • Meat of fresh fish is tender and should be handled with care. All damage accelerates the spoilage of fish.
  • When thawing fish, avoid contact of the melting water with the fish by placing the fish on a surface from which the water can be drained.
  • Always use fresh fish for food purposes as soon as possible!


The fish will keep until the “use by” date, provided that the storage conditions and temperature regime have not been violated.
